Rodrigo Fernández, director of the Major League office in Mexico, confirmed that the country will host games in 2025 and 2026, after the success obtained in 2024.
During the inauguration of the MLB ClubHouse México, Fernández assured that the official announcement will be made at the end of the World Series between the Dodgers and the Yankees.
“Our commitment is long-term with Mexico. In 2025 we are going to have games, We will be announcing it very soon, we just want to miss the World Series,” Fernández expressed enthusiastically. This commitment underlines the MLB’s strong commitment to consolidating its presence in Mexican territory.
Fernández also confirmed that more regular season games will take place in Mexico in 2026.and announced that they are already working on a proposal to further expand the presence of the MLB in the country for the period after 2027.
“In 2026 we are also safe here with regular season games. And then we are already working on the proposal… we are going to be very aggressive in Mexico after 2027,” commented Fernández, alluding to the possibility of taking Major League baseball to new Mexican locations, beyond the traditional venues. such as Mexico City, Monterrey and Guadalajara.
The manager also highlighted the growth in baseball stadium infrastructure in Mexico, which will facilitate the expansion of these events to other cities. “We have detected other very important places that call us and tell us to bring the games so they can see what the response is,” he added.
With stadiums full during recent matches, Fernández described the current moment of Mexican baseball as “extraordinary” and affirmed that the relationship between Mexico and the Major Leagues is at its best level in the last 50 years.
