But the fight for the top of the competition did not resemble a duel for long. Especially in the first half of the match, chances were few and far between and neither team was able to create consistent pressure. Our legs didn’t work, as hockey players like to say. Possibilities thus arose especially in power play. The guests played six of them per match.
But they only confirmed why they are the worst in this discipline in the entire extra league. They used only three of the 38 opportunities in the season. Last year, playing with a numerical advantage was one of the few positive things in an otherwise messed up season for the Central Bohemians.
“It would be more pleasant if we managed to change one. Just for self-confidence,” commented Bruslar goalkeeper Dominik Furch after the match, who for a change troubled Dynamo’s scorer. The 34-year-old goalkeeper stopped 33 shots. He was not enough for the only one, which turned out to be a turning point.
Martin Kaut shot it through at the end of the third period. Dynamo’s top scorer with eight goals. Poulíček won the puck for the home offensive zone, passed it to the former Colorado player, who waited for the right moment before sending a precise shot to the left post. “Smart shot. I looked for the puck between the players’ legs,” praised Furch.
Captain Červenka secured the victory of the East Bohemians into an empty net. Three points, first place. There could be satisfaction in Pardubice. “But we need to fine-tune the shortcomings,” stated Kaut, the author of the winning goal.
He was mainly referring to weakening. Although Dynamo managed them, they are the most punished team in the competition, which is definitely not the norm for the leader of the table. “I understand that nobody wants to foul, but we have to improve. It’s been bothering us all season,” the 25-year-old forward complained about the unnecessary fouls.
A painful start to the season, a lackluster performance, the end of coach Marek Zadina. In Pardubice, despite the table position, there is no calm atmosphere. The team was temporarily taken over by Václav Baďouček, who was transferred from a managerial position at béček.
“I try not to notice it and focus on myself. I won’t influence it anyway, and in the end it’s up to us players how we play and what we show on the ice,” added Kaut.
