In 2024, cycling superstar Pogacar set standards: Tour de France victory, winning the Giro d’Italia and the World Cup triumph crowned his most successful season to date. Now he has extended his contract.

After by far his most successful year in his career, cycling superstar Tadej Pogacar has extended his contract with the UAE team for the long term. As the racing team announced, the 26-year-old has extended his contract until 2030. “This team has been my home for five years now and I really can’t imagine going anywhere else,” the Slovenian was quoted as saying in a statement.

This year Pogacar set numerous records. First, the exceptional rider achieved the rare double victory of the Tour de France and the Giro d’Italia in one year. Only seven other drivers had achieved this before, most recently Marco Pantani 26 years ago.

UAE boss: “His talent is obvious to everyone”

He was only the third rider after legend Eddy Merckx from Belgium and the Irishman Stephen Roche to achieve the so-called triple crown in cycling. In addition to the Tour and Giro success, he crowned the successful year at the end of September with his first victory at the World Championships in Zurich, when he triumphed confidently after a sensational solo ride. He also won the day races Strade Bianche, Liège-Bastogne-Liège and the Tour of Lombardy.

UAE boss Mauro Gianetti praised: “Tadej joined the team as an ambitious 20-year-old and we have seen him rise to Giro d’Italia, Tour de France and world champion this season. His talent is obvious to everyone, but he is also one of the hardest working and most dedicated cyclists in the peloton.”
