Ligue 1: Rennes lends a young scorer to Châteauroux in National

For several weeks, Stade Rennais had been looking for a good project to develop Wilson Samaké. Remaining in his training club despite approaches in France and abroad, the 20-year-old center forward has just found a way out, at Châteauroux, the bottom of National which he will strengthen on loan.

The player arrives this Friday, October 25, to undergo his medical examination and could make his debut with his new team next week against Paris 13 Atlético.

The native of Vitry-sur-Seine did not play a single minute with the professionals of Stade Rennais in Ligue 1. Not in Julien Stéphan’s plans, he missed the start of the season due to a wrist injury, but remains on a fantastic 2023-2024 financial year with the reserve of the Breton club which allowed it, last summer, to compete in the Olympic Games with the Malian selection.

Top scorer in National 3, all groups combined (20 goals), the former AS Orly player has climbed the ranks little by little since his arrival in Brittany, at 14, in 2018. Captain of the Gambardella half team -finalist in 2022 with Désiré Doué or Mathys Tel, Samaké must now assert himself among the “big ones”. He is the 7th player loaned by Rennes to France this season, the maximum authorized by the regulations.
