Our Expert’s Pick: A Mixed Match Expected for Watson

Our Expert’s Pick: A Mixed Match Expected for Watson

Would you like another “proposition bet” for Week 8 in the NFL? I’ve already shared several with you, and they’ve all been winners, except the one from last week. But I still think it was a good bet to take.

Remember I suggested taking Calvin Ridley of the Tennessee Titans who catches over 3.5 passes. He was coming off a frustrating game, which led his head coach to say his team needed to give him the ball more often. They did just that, targeting him nine times, but the only problem was he only managed to catch three. No luck.

This week, I’m not betting on a player based on comments made by a coach or quarterback. The game is supported by solid stats, that’s all.

For Week 8, one of my top “proposal bets” is Christian Watson of the Green Bay Packers recording fewer than 2.5 receptions against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Let’s pretend if you had placed this bet in each of Watson’s six games this season, you would have gone 4-2.

And last year? If you include the playoffs, your performance would have been 7-5.

So, since the start of the 2023 season, you would have accumulated 11 wins and seven losses.

Watson often throws the play away, and that’s why he doesn’t get targeted very often. In other words, he’s a big-game player. This season, he has alternated with teammate Dontayvion Wicks, giving him fewer opportunities to catch balls. Jordan Love also likes to spread the ball around, so we tend to see a lot of guys catching a limited number of passes.

What’s more, Watson is bothered by an ankle injury. These are not the kind of injuries you like when your main asset is running down the field. He’ll likely play Sunday, but he was limited in practices Wednesday and Thursday, showing he’s bothered by an injury.

Don’t miss my article tomorrow where I will present an NHL bet, with an NFL bet (I like the underdogs this weekend!).
