After Montigny-le-Bretonneux in 2023, it is the turn of Mantes-la-Ville – still in Yvelines – to host, next year, the last stage of the Tour de France. According to several sources, the runners should start from the town on July 27, 2025 before joining Paris and the Champs-Élysées for the final stage. The information should be officially confirmed on Tuesday at the Palais des Congrès in Paris (17th century) during the presentation to the press of the route for the next edition.
This is not the first time that the Yvelines department has hosted the last stage of the Grande Boucle. In the past, Houilles had been a winner in 2018. Several years previously, Versailles in 2013 during the 100th of the Tour de France and Rambouillet in 2012, where 40,000 spectators were present, had already experienced this privilege.
The city had already hosted Paris-Nice in 2022
A preference which can be explained by the geographical position of Yvelines, a few kilometers from Paris. But also by the existence of an agreement which binds, since 2018, the organizer Amaury Sport (ASO) to the departmental council. This collaboration was recently renewed and should allow other municipalities in the department to stand out in the coming years.
ASO also ensuring the Paris-Nice, Mantes-la-Ville had already welcomed cyclists for the start of the Race to the Sun in 2022. Contacted, the town hall of Mantes-la-Ville confirms having been approached as part of a study of feasibility in order to be the starting city of the last stage. “But at this stage, the confirmation and the official route will only be revealed next Tuesday in Paris,” they say in Mantes-la-Ville.
