The national U15 Basketball team returned to the path of victory this Thursday, to win 67-61 against the Chilean team. The Creoles took advantage in the third quarter of the match, to claim another victory. The first quarter was extremely balanced for both quintets.
Both offenses were successful in the first minutes of the game, ending the quarter with an equal score of 19 points. The Chileans did not lower their offensive intensity, and in the second quarter, they managed to gain a small advantage over the national squad. The Chilean team won the fourth with a partial score of 18-15, and went into halftime with a three-point lead (37-34).
After the break, the Venezuelan team came out with momentum and determination to step on the accelerator and take the third quarter of the match and turn the match in their favor. Venezuela demonstrated offensive solidity to score 21 points, while its defense was suffocating to limit the Chileans to 13 points.
For the final quarter, both quintets were erratic when putting their offense into practice. However, a triple by Gregory Gavidia with a minute left in the game gave the national quintet three points of peace. For the Creoles, Julio Vásquez stood out, scoring 27 points, three rebounds, an assist and a steal. For the Chilean team, the standout was Luis Musrri, who scored 12 points, had eight rebounds and added eight assists.
With this victory, the U15 national team registered its name in the semifinals of the South American category, and, this Saturday, they will play for their ticket to the final of the tournament and a place in the FiBA AmeriCup U16 2025.
