New downer for PSV, another strong player out for weeks

PSV will not be able to call on Jerdy Schouten in the coming weeks. The 27-year-old midfielder suffered a muscle injury during Saturday’s match against AZ. This is evident from additional medical research, the Eindhoven football club reported on Thursday evening. Schouten will miss the top match against Ajax at the beginning of November.

“This is of course very disappointing, but I will work hard to be important to the team again as soon as possible,” Schouten said.

Nice draw
Schouten was missing due to the injury during PSV’s Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday. That match nevertheless ended in a nice 1-1 draw.

A match earlier in the billion dollar ball, Schouten was the star against Sporting Lisbon.

Ferryman
In the Eredivisie, PSV will play alongside Ajax against PEC Zwolle and NAC Breda in the coming weeks. In the Champions League, PSV awaits the important home match against Spanish Girona on November 5.

In addition to Schouten, PSV also misses strongman Joey Veerman in midfield. He suffered a groin injury during the competition match against Willem II. Veerman is not expected back on the field until the end of November at the earliest.

PSV has been struggling with a significant number of injuries throughout the football season. The entrance of full-back Serginho Dest is not expected until early next year, while attacker Hirving Lozano – who will leave for the American San Diego FC during the winter break – hopes to be back on the field in a few weeks.
