The president of the palm trees, Leila Pereira confirmed that Crefisa and FAM (Faculdade das Américas) will stop sponsoring the club next season. The director also classified it as “very likely” that a lottery house will take over as the club’s master sponsor in 2025.

The statements were made to the newspaper “O Globo”, in an interview in which the Verdão representative also denies that there is a conflict of interest due to the fact that she is president of the club and the companies that sponsor the institution.

– When I was a sponsor, I never interfered in football. Yes, I participated in Council meetings, because I was a counselor. But he never came to the Football Academy (Palmeiras Training Center). When I become president, the last word is mine. By the way, aren’t you going to ask about conflict of interest? Everyone tells me about this blessed conflict of interests (laughs). I don’t know where there is conflict, when you only put money. I never did business with Palmeiras. On the contrary, I even benefit the club – said the director, who added.

– Crefisa and FAM are sponsors of all football. So that there would be more investment in women’s, I authorized the entry of another brand, without reducing what I paid. If it was another sponsor, I would never be able to do this. But, in December, the cycle of my companies as sponsors ends.

Leila explains leaving her brands

In the same interview, Leila justified the removal of her brands from the Palmeiras shirt. According to the club’s president, the inflated market due to the presence of bookmakers is the reason for the end of the partnership, which has lasted since 2015.

– When I started sponsoring Palmeiras, in 2015, we were the biggest sponsor in South America. But bets changed the landscape of values, which are very high today. We can’t escape this. We are looking for companies with credibility and financial power to honor their commitments. Because I don’t want to sign a contract today and, in four months, the company leaves because it can’t pay.

Since Leila Pereira’s brands began to occupy the main space on Palmeiras’ shirt, the team has won all of the continent’s main titles: four Paulistões (2020, 2022, 2023 and 2024), two Brazilian Cups (2015 and 2020) , four Brasileirãos (2016, 2018, 2022 and 2023), two Libertadores (2020 and 2021), one Recopa Sul-Americana (2022) and one Supercup of Brazil (2023).

Leila has been president of Palmeiras since 2021 and ends her first term at the end of this year. The leader is a candidate for re-election and will face the opposition candidate Savério Orlandi at the polls. The election is scheduled for November 24th.
