Tage Thompson scored two goals and the Buffalo Sabers earned their third straight win, inflicting a 5-3 loss on the Detroit Red Wings.
Jason Zucker and Bowen Byram also beat Alex Lyon, then Jack Quinn completed in an empty net.
Byram broke the 3-3 deadlock late in the second period when his long wrist shot deflected off the Red Wings’ Jeff Petry.
Lucas Raymond, Michael Rasmussen and Alex DeBrincat were the scorers for the Wings, who had won three games in a row.
Lyon made 34 stops, 12 more than Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen.
Buffalo will play again Monday night at home, against the Florida Panthers.
