MADRID – FC Barcelona players were happy to win the first competitive El Clásico of this season. In Saturday’s match of the 11th round of the Spanish La Liga, they clearly triumphed 4:0 at Real Madrid and increased their lead at the top of the table to six points.

Polish forward Robert Lewandowski scored two goals, Lamine Yamal and Raphinha added one after another. Seventeen-year-old Yamal scored the first goal in Real’s net and became the youngest scorer in the history of the prestigious derby.

From the beginning, both teams showed that they did not come to the Santiago Bernabeu to defend and offered the spectators one offensive action after another. In the 13th minute, Lewandowski sent it to the advancing Yamal with a great back-foot, but the young winger aimed the shot at goalkeeper Andrij Lunin. Most of the chances of the “white ballet” were stopped due to offsides, the home team had up to eight of them in the first half. Kylian Mbappé opened the net in the 30th minute, but even this time he did not keep his position and his intervention was not valid after the VAR review.

The game was played at a high pace even after the change of sides. The Barcelona players finally enjoyed the opening goal in the 54th minute, Lewandowski ran onto the crossbar of Marco Casado and beat Lunin with a shot to the right post – 0:1. The Pole aimed his header at the same spot two minutes later, when Alejandro Balde’s cross found him in the penalty area – 0:2.

After an hour of play, Mbappé scored again, but for the second time from offside. Lewandowski didn’t take advantage of the chance to complete the hat trick right away, as he hit the right post in front of an empty goal. Real kept trying, but in the 77th minute, Yamal’s sharp shot hit the crossbar – 0:3. Barcelona was on the horse and Raphinha sealed the result 4:0 in their favor at the end of the match. The Catalans won the first league El Clasico since March 2023.

Villarreal’s players recorded their sixth league victory when they triumphed at Real Valladolid 2:1. Substitute Ayoze Perez netted the winning goal in the 84th minute. In the next match at home, Rayo Vallecano beat Alaves 1:0, even though they played without the suspended Abdul Mumin from the 22nd minute. The only goal was scored ten minutes before the end of regular playing time, when the ball unfortunately bounced off the visitors’ goalkeeper Antonio Siver. Defender Alex Munoz decided the triumph of Las Palmas over Girona 1:0.
