NFL: Las Vegas Raiders stick with Maxx Crosby

NFL: Las Vegas Raiders stick with Maxx Crosby

Rumors of departures continue to spread before the trade deadline. But Mark Davis is no longer interested in one of his stars. The owner of the Las Vegas Raiders is putting a stop to a change in a strange way.

NFL teams are allowed to trade with each other until November 5th. Only then is the trade deadline reached. Accordingly, a large number of rumors are spreading in the league cosmos. This also applies to Las Vegas Raiders pass rusher Maxx Crosby.

The defensive end is heavily linked with a move to the Detroit Lions, among other things. Much to the annoyance of Raiders owner Mark Davis. Logically, the 79-year-old has a strong interest in Crosby’s whereabouts. After all, he is one of the top performers in his defense. He is also an identification figure in Vegas.

A trade is therefore out of the question. Davis thinks so too and makes this known in a strange way. “We will not trade Maxx Crosby. Before or after the trade deadline!!!,” he wrote in an email to “ESPN.” Crosby’s departure was discussed internally, but only briefly and with a clear result.

Joy inevitable

While the owner’s clear words are likely to cause disillusionment in the offices of several NFL teams, the Raiders are expected to be very happy. On the one hand, the team’s new part-owner, Richard Seymour, recently said on the “Adam Schefter Podcast” that he could not imagine the Raiders giving away the “heartbeat of our team.”

In addition to the fans, Crosby is also likely to welcome the clarity. In his podcast “The Rush with Maxx Crosby” he already cleared up some transfer rumors and emphasized that he definitely wanted to remain a Raider. However, he also said that he cannot 100 percent control what is happening and that he cannot completely rule out anything in the NFL business.

Mark Davis did this for him. Crosby was selected in the fourth round of the 2019 draft by the Raiders. In his first season he collected ten sacks and gradually earned an absolute key role in the defense. In his six years in the NFL, he has recorded 344 tackles, nine forced fumbles and 58.5 sacks.
