Los Angeles, United States | The Japanese Shohei Ohtanibaseball’s current superstar, suffered a partial dislocation of his shoulder Saturday during the team’s second victory. Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series against the New York Yankees, detailed the Los Angeles franchise.
Ohtani suffered the injury in the seventh inning of the Dodgers’ 4-2 victory, during an attempted base steal, and left the field in pain, setting off all the alarms for the Los Angeles team, which leads the World Series by a 2-0 aggregate.
Before the press, Dodgers coach Dave Roberts said that Ohtani had been diagnosed a “small subluxation of the left shoulder” and must still undergo other tests to determine the severity of the injury.
Roberts, however, said he was “encouraged” that Ohtani’s “strength and range of motion” in his arm are “good.”
The World Series, which is played in the best of seven games, will resume on Monday at the Yankees’ field, which will host the third, fourth and, if necessary, fifth game.
Ohtani, the highest paid player in the Major Leaguessuffered the injury while lunging in an unsuccessful attempt to steal second base in the bottom of the seventh inning.
In pain on the ground, the Japanese asked his team for help and left the field with his elbow bent and holding his left arm, accompanied by one of the coaches.
The scare spread among the 52,725 spectators at Dodger Stadium, who have Ohtani as their new idol after a spectacular first season with the Dodgers in which he is the favorite to win his third award (MPV).
The Japanese, who signed a decade-long $700 million contract in December, this season became the first player to accumulate more than 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases in a year.
