Briton Jack Draper won the ATP 500 tournament in Vienna, the most prestigious success of his young career, by dominating Russian Karen Khachanov, 28, in straight sets (6-4, 7-5) on Sunday.
The 22-year-old left-hander, who won his second trophy after his victory at the ATP 250 tournament in Stuttgart in June, will enter the top 15 for the first time in his career.
Easy in the first set and at the start of the second (4-0), the Englishman scared himself by conceding five consecutive games, before finding his tennis at the best time to fend off his opponent’s return.
Khachanov (24th in the world) remained on a victory at the Almaty tournament last week.
Draper dispatched world number 16 Lorenzo Musetti in the semifinals 6-2, 6-4 on Saturday and lost only one set during the tournament.
