SUM LOMBARDODavide Violin 62 years old, restaurateur originally from Somma Lombardohas been missing since the early hours of this afternoon, Saturday 26 October, following a a storm that hit Liguria. All traces of him have been lost in the Lissolo areafrom which the river takes its name, in via Pecorara, just above Arenzano.

A river of mud

Violin’s car was perhaps dragged by the flood of a torrent which, due to the heavy rains that hit the western part of Genoa, broke through the guardrail and caused at least one car to fall. The Lissolo river overflowedwhat is usually a small stream: today it broke in half an hour the natural banks, water and mud invaded the road below, also overwhelming some parked cars. Perhaps even the one on which Davide Violin was travelling.

Searches suspended

To give the alarm to the men of the Civil Protection it was the man’s wife, worried by the images received from her husband, who shortly before had sent her a video of the river in flood, andto that phone which then rang off the hook. Violin would have left the house of some relatives to reach his restaurant, the Tui Bistrot in Arenzano. Since then there has been no further news. The searches were suspended around 10pm and will resume at first light tomorrow, Sunday 27 October.
