After closing his cycle in doubles with Job Castillo, <a href="https://www.archysport.com/2022/04/udeg-obtains-tickets-for-the-national-championship-in-badminton-and-taekwondo/” title=”UdeG obtains tickets for the National Championship in Badminton and Taekwondo”>Luis Montoya returns to individual badminton looking to qualify Los Angeles 2028. He recently won bronze in singles and gold in mixed doubles with Miriam Rodriguez.
After closing a cycle in men’s doubles with Job Castillowith which he was close to classifying Paris 2024, Luis Armando Montoya Navarro resumes the path in the individual modality of badminton, now with the aim of reaching his first Olympics in Los Angeles 2028.
Montoya He commented that returning to the court as a solo player in his main form is a challenge that he is assimilating little by little. Recently, he won a bronze medal in the Peru International Series 2024 and also won a gold in mixed doubles with Miriam Rodriguezwith whom he plans to continue competing.
“I played doubles with Job Castillo and now I’m back to singles, it’s been a bit of a heavy change, but here we go. I had hoped to improve little by little, but I achieved a third place in Peru and with Miriam We were already having good results and we got gold, we complement each other well,” he explained.

In addition to his achievements in international tournaments, during the previous cycle, Montoya added a bronze in the Junior Pan American Games Cali-Valle 2021and was crowned a triple medalist in the Central American and Caribbean Games San Salvador 2023in men’s, mixed and team doubles. In the Pan American Games Santiago 2023finished in third place along with Castilloremaining close to the classification at Paris Olympic Games.
“Due to the issue of Central American and Pan American Games “We had predicted medals and I specialized in doubles, it went well for us, but now that another cycle will begin I am in the process of change although it is a longer, more tiring game, but it is enjoyed in the same way,” he said.
“To Paris It was a long road, very good, we had the support of the CONADE and the Federation, we compete in America, Asia and Europe gaining experience with the best in the world, it opens up your perspective and that helps because I no longer feel the pressure as much, I enjoy the tournaments more, that is when the best results are given and I want to try to Los Angeles”he shared.
After his participation in Peru, Montoya will compete in the XV Mexican International 2024to be held in Aguascalientes from October 29 to November 3, where it will be in both modalities.
