Bolivia won four titles at the Patujú Junior Open tennis tournament, which was held in Santa Cruz and closed the circuit of two international tournaments held in the country by the Cosat Tour (Under-16 and U-14) and the ITF World Tennis Juniors Tour (U18).

After the Silver Cóndor that ended a week ago in Cochabamba and La Paz, where Bolivia won three championships, the Patujú Junior Open started on Monday on the courts of the Santa Cruz Tennis Club.

For this tournament Valery Sumoya, winner of four titles in the Cóndor de Plata and the Open Mitta Universidad Católica de Chile, did not participate in the U-16 category, but instead decided to move up to U-18, one category ahead of hers, although He could no longer reach the final.

The victors

There were two singles titles in U-14 of both branches thanks to José Segura and María Sejas, while the remaining two were in doubles with Sejas and Valerie Wang (U-14) and Matheo Calvo with the Chilean Benjamín Pérez (U-16 ).

Segura won the individual title after overcoming the following path: in the first round he defeated the Ecuadorian Sebastián Escobar (6-0 and 6-1), in the round of 16 he defeated the Brazilian Murilo Sánchez (6-0 and 7-5), in the quarterfinals He made a big splash by eliminating the first seed, the Bolivian Matías Rivero (he did not show up to play) and in the semifinals he beat the Brazilian Pedro Martins (6-1 and 6-3).

The final was against the fourth seed, the national Sebastián Chang, whom he beat by a double 6-2.

Sejas was the first seed in her category: in the first phase she eliminated the Peruvian Emilia Ugarte (5-7, 6-2 and 6-0), in the round of 16 she beat the Bolivian Victoria Peñaloza (a double 6-0), in the quarterfinals She left the Inca Triana Tocon (6-3 and 6-2) on the road and in the semis she won against the third favorite, the Bolivian Wang (7-5 ​​and 6-4).

The fight for the crown was against the second seed, the Venezuelan Stephanie Pumar, whom she defeated 6-4 and 6-2.

In U-14 women’s doubles, Sejas and Wang beat the llaneras Pumar and Renatta Morillo in the final: 6-3, 6-7(2) and 12-10; while in the U-16 boys, Calvo and Pérez won the title against the Venezuelans Ignacio Mejías and Santiago Mora (a double 6-1).

The foreigners

The remaining categories were conquered by foreign tennis players.

The singles winners were: the Argentine Dante Pagani and the Brazilian Nahuany Leme (both in U-18); the Chilean Benjamín Pérez and the Peruvian Mariafernanda Poma (U-16).

In doubles, the following triumphed: the Salvadoran César Cruz with the American Nischal Spurling and the also Americans Nancy Lee and Welles Newman (U18); the Peruvian Giulia Morales with the Chilean Catalina Porre (U-16) and the Brazilians Luca Ashcar and Pedro Martins (U-14).
