Pinto da Costa’s Discontent: The Controversial Encounter with Villas-Boas on Jamor’s Lawn

Pinto da Costa confessed, in the book ‘Azul until the end’, that he was not pleased with the presence of André Villas-Boas, current president of SAD, on the Jamor lawn celebrating the conquest of the Portuguese Cup, after the final won against Sporting (2-1), on May 26th.

“After the festivities on the stand were over, as is normal, the entire delegation went down to the lawn to celebrate with the members. I, still president of SAD, as well as my staff, remained on the stand. I was astonished when André Villas-Boas asked me if I wasn’t going to the field. I informed him that in those circumstances I had never done so, as the party belonged to the players”, Pinto da Costa began writing, in the work that will be released this Monday, in an excerpt to which the newspaper O JOGO had access, proceeding.

“I was surprised that the not yet elected president of SAD (he was only elected on April 28th) took to the pitch with his wife, children and future directors, as if the success was due to them. One would say that these are forms In fact, I didn’t like it! At the time of victory, on the stage and on the covers of magazines, there must be those who carry out our victories”, concluded Pinto da Costa.
