SANTIAGO.- Three shutouts were thrown last Sunday, in the continuation of the LXV Amateur Baseball Tournament of this city, dedicated to Mayor Ulises Rodríguez and organized by the Santiago Baseball Association (ABESA).
The slurry was thrown in each of the scenarios where the 6 teams competed in the Santiago Mayor’s Cup.
In the municipality of Tamboril, the locals inflicted two defeats on the Tranquilo Tavárez School, where there was a superb work by pitcher Albert Pérez, who fanned 14 rivals out of 15 he faced.
Pérez came in to relieve and in 4.1 of an inning he faced 15 batters of whom he struck out 14 and Tamboril defeated Tranquilo Tavárez 4-0, with a loss for Albis Núñez.
Another Albert (Peña) also excelled in the box for the Tamborileños and won 9-1, with a work of 8.0 innings, in which he faced 26 batters, did not allow runs, only one hit and also fanned 14 .
The defeat by the Tranquilo Tavárez School, from Tierra Alta, went to pitcher Wilmer Martínez.
Offensively, Brailyn Peña hit a home run, Rando Moreno hit a double and a single; Mackendy Ovil and Michel Rosario, two singles.
For the defeated, the best was Ender Piña, with two singles and Daniel Polanco with one base hit.
IN NAVARRETE
The Linda and Coquero Baseball Academy teams divided honors, where the locals won the first with a score of 12-6, with a victory for Joelfry Rodríguez and a failure for Raylin Guzmán.
In the second match, Coquero Baseball Academy retaliated by hanging 9 rings on Linda at her home in the Virgilio Veras stadium, with victory for Miguel Bonilla and defeat for Willington Quintero.
For Geraldo Jiménez’s boys, Edison Polanco stood out with a home run and two with a base; Yeferson Tineo, with a home run and single; Cameron Sánchez Luis Martínez and Steven Fermín, with a double.
For Coquero Baseball Academy, Rikelvin Vélez stood out, with a home run, Brailin Rodríguez, a tubey and a single, Tonny Rorniel and Héctor Paulino, a double.
IN CIENFUEGOS
At the Ambiorix Rodríguez stadium there was a division of honors between Futuras Estrellas and the Unión Deportiva de Cienfuegos, where the visitors won the first 8-7, with success for Ángelo Almonte and failure for Javier Cabrera.
In the second the home team won by an 11-0 shutout, counting on the pitching of Víctor Pérez and the defeat went to Michael Carmona.
Josía swung his bat at the rate of a double and 3 singles; Warlin Aguilera, home run and double; Luis Hernández, triple and double.
For Future Stars, Saúl De los Santos was present with a triple and 2 singles; Kelvin Rodríguez and Brailin García, two for no man’s land.
