Río Negro prepares to defend the title in the Araucanía

In this sense, the Secretary of Sports, Nahuel Astutti, stated that “we are very happy with the coordination with each of the federations, which has allowed us to work throughout the year and form the teams.”

He also added that “we have a lot of expectations, understanding that Río Negro is always in the foreground and is a great responsibility” and concluded with that “however we believe that the most important thing is that the athletes can enjoy this unique experience.”

Meanwhile, Julián Vilca, representative of Judo, stated that “this is my first time and I am very excited, I hope the results are very good, I am going to try to represent the province in the best way in Chile.”

Lucía González, member of the volleyball team, stated that “being on the national team has taught me many things, thanks to the shared tournaments we were able to get to know each other little by little and evolve each time as a team.”

The athlete Antonella Rodríguez assured that the objective is to “leave the province as high as possible” and, personally, she highlighted that she will seek to “be among the first, leaving everything behind.”

The Rio Negro delegation will gather in Bariloche from November 7 to 9 and will later cross the border to compete in three Chilean towns from the 10th to the 16th of the same month: Puerto Aysén will be the scene of basketball and swimming, Coyhaique will host volleyball, athletics and judo, and Punta Arenas of cycling and football.

Participating in this 31st edition of the Araucanía Binational Games are the provinces of Río Negro, La Pampa, Chubut, Santa Cruz, Tierra del Fuego and Neuquén, as well as the Chilean regions of Magallanes, Aysén, Bío Bío, Los Ríos, Los Lagos, Ñuble and La Araucanía.

Currently Río Negro has a streak of four consecrations in a row and is also the top winner of the tournament with 14 titles obtained in Aysén 2000, La Araucanía 2002, Neuquén 2003, Bío Bío 2004, Magallanes 2006, Río Negro 2009, Aysén 2010, Tierra del Fuego 2011, Neuquén 2015, Bío Bío 2016, Magallanes 2018, La Pampa 2019, Los Lagos 2022 and Río Negro 2023.
