The voting to choose the best in the world in The Best is wider than that organized by France Football. FIFA considers the opinion of four juries: captains and coaches of the national teams, journalists from each country affiliated to the entity and also fans around the world. Each group has a weight of 25% in the final score.
Each voter must choose the three best in the world, who earn 5, 3 and 1 point, respectively depending on their position on the podium. Whoever has the most points, of course, is elected the best player on the planet.
Competitors are nominated by FIFA through the entity’s technical council, which defines a list of 10 finalists. The analysis period for the last award was from December 19, 2022, one day after the World Cup, until August 20, 2023, but, since 2016, the entity has used the European season as a cutoff for analysis.
