Author of the three posters of Lucca Comics & Games 2024, dedicated to the works ‘Tosca‘, ‘Madama Butterfly’ and ‘Turandot‘ by Giacomo Puccini, Yoshitaka Amano is the most awaited guest of this edition of the event. At Palazzo Ducale he is the protagonist of the exhibition ‘Press Animae To Play’, which illustrates the youthful period of Sensei’s production, perhaps the least known to the general public, with a fifteen-year career spent in the animation studio Tatsunoko Production where, first as animator and then as character designer, he contributed to the creation of cult cartoons between 1967 and 1982 such as Mago Pancione, Judo Boy, Ape MagĂ , Pinocchio, Yattaman, Hurricane Polimar, Tekkaman.
The first opportunity to meet maestro Amano in Lucca will be on October 30th at 11 am, on the occasion of the opening ceremony, at the Teatro del Giglio. The Sensei, who will have a monographic pavilion in his honor in Piazza San Michele, will meet the public on 31 October at 4pm, again at the Teatro del Giglio, for a full ‘questions/answers’ on his career and on the Milanese exhibition, curated by Fabio Viola for Lucca Comics & Games, which will be hosted from 13 November to 1 March 2025 at the Fabbrica del Vapore. ‘Amano Corpus Animae’ will be the first retrospective to celebrate the 50-year career of the visionary Maestro, the largest and most complete that has ever been dedicated to the Japanese artist in the West. Amano will once again be at the center of an event dedicated to the LC&G communities on November 1st at 1pm in the San Francesco Auditorium.
