Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Jorge Martin can ensure you become world champion MotoGP 2024 at the Malaysian GP this weekend. The following are the conditions for this to happen.
Jorge Martin finished runner up in the Thai MotoGP, losing to Pecco Bagnaia who became the Thai MotoGP champion. The difference in points between the two drivers has now reduced to just 17 points.
With a 17 point advantage, Jorge Martin has the opportunity to ensure the MotoGP world title at the Sepang Circuit, Malaysia. Even though the chances of this happening are slim, at least based on calculations, it can be done.

To be able to lock in the 2024 MotoGP world title in Malaysia, Jorge Martin must collect at least 21 more points than Pecco Bagnaia in the series. If that happens, Jorge Martin will have a 38 point difference over Bagnaia ahead of the final series at the Valencia MotoGP.
The difference of 38 points with the remaining conditions in one series means that Jorge Martin is certain to be the 2024 MotoGP world champion. This is because the maximum number of points obtained in one series is 37 with the racer winning the sprint race and full race.
However, to be able to get 21 points more than Bagnaia is not an easy job for Jorge Martin. Without any big blunders, it seems difficult for Jorge Martin to win more points than Bagnaia in Malaysia.
For example, if Jorge Martin wins the sprint race and full race in Malaysia, which means 37 points, he can only be confirmed as champion if Bagnaia only collects 16 points from the total race in the sprint race and full race.
Referring to Bagnaia’s consistent performance in the last four series, it seems difficult for Jorge Martin to get much more points than Bagnaia.
Jorge Martin himself also has to be fully alert to Bagnaia. He cannot make fatal mistakes such as failing to finish if he doesn’t want the 17 point gap he currently has to just evaporate.
