Prato, 29 October 2024 – The Prato Academy proved to be the best club in the A2 Italian Judo Cup, as regards the competition reserved for women. This is the verdict issued by the event that closed a few days ago in Lignano Sabbiadoro, which in the women’s competition saw the Prato association climb to the top step of the podium, putting Pro Recco Judo and Judovanzago behind them. Thanks to the performances of the individual athletes, starting with Benedetta Capponi who was able to become champion in the 63 kg category. Excellent performances were also achieved by Sofia Kubler, who took home a silver in the +78 kg category, and by Martina Cocco, bronze in the -78 kg category. “It was a beautiful day. First of all for the result, and perhaps this is obvious, but above all because I finally felt good on the tatami and I managed to do what I have been training for for 25 years – said Capponi – I thank my coach, my gym mates and who has believed in me until now.” Micaela Ingrassia also took part in the event, giving her contribution to ensure that the Academy rose to first place in the general ranking of clubs with 24 points. “A very beautiful day, it could have gone better in terms of individual results – concluded coach Fabio Barni – but everything that we lacked in the previous days in terms of results we gained today with the performance of the girls, so we are happy ”.
