It was a good first day for the Saarlanders at the Badminton Open: Marvin Seidel and Daniel Hess from 1. BC Bischmisheim are one round further in the doubles at their home tournament, as is Linda Efler in the mixed doubles.
Marvin Seidel and Daniel Hess, the Saarland team from 1. BC Bischmisheim, won their doubles on Tuesday evening at the Badminton Open in the Saarlandhalle in Saarbrücken. In the Round of 32 they defeated Marvin Datko (also 1. BC Bischmisheim) and Patrick Volkmann (Blau-Weiss Wittorf-NMS) with 21:13 and 21:12.
Bischmisheim player Linda Efler and her partner Thuc Phuong Nguyen also won doubles. They defeated the two Danes Simona Pilgaard and Mette Werge with 21:19 and 23:21.
On Tuesday morning, Marvin Datko won the mixed doubles qualification. With Julia Meyer (TV Refrath) he defeated the Dutch Andy Bujik and Meerte Loos with 11:21, 21:13 and 21:13.

On Wednesday, Datko and Meyer continue in the Round of 32 against the British doubles couple Jenny and Gregory Mairs. Linda Efler competes in the mixed doubles together with Kenneth Neumann (1. BC Wipperfeld) against Lucia Rodriguez and Ruben Garcia from Spain.
At the start of the tournament, co-favorites Chia Weije and Lwi Sheng Hao from Malaysia beat a French doubles team, Eloi Adam and Leo Rossi (21:15, 21:17). Kenneth Neumann and Malik Bourrakadi, on the other hand, lost to two other Frenchmen, Louis Ducrot and Quentin Ronget (18:21, 19:21).
The two Germans Jones Ralfy Jansen and Bjarne Geiss defeated the Spanish duo Ruben Garcia/Carlos Piris 21:12 and 21:11. Rasmus Kjær and Frederik Søgaard from Denmark, both tournament vaforites, defeated France’s Natan Begga and Baptiste Labarthe 21:10 and 21:13.
