In the summer of 2018, Roger Federer bought a property on Lake Zurich, where he wanted to move into a villa with Mirka in 2021. But a construction nightmare ensued.
The most important thing in brief
- Roger and Mirka Federer have owned a property in Kempraten on Lake Zurich for six years.
- A villa is being built there that the two of them would have wanted to move into years ago.
- However, the construction continues to drag on.

It was only recently announced that the Federal Office for the Environment (Uvek) also got involved in the construction nightmare. Apparently the planned boathouse does not meet the specifications.

Yes, that would be a dream!

Yes, that would be a dream!
And in 2020, when construction workers came across contaminated sites from the vinegar boiler and brick kiln that stood on the site in the 19th century, the dream of moving in early was finally shattered.
Just over a month ago, the authorities announced that the city council “was able to grant approval for the dismantling of the existing boat dock and for the construction of a new boathouse.” But the Uvek appealed against this.
It is still unclear whether Federer will finally be able to move into his dream villa next year. As the “Handelszeitung” writes, the total costs for the project are likely to amount to around 70 million francs.
