League F and the unions FUTPRO, Futbolistas ON and CCOO have signed this Tuesday the agreement for the second Collective Agreement of the First Division of Women’s Soccer. After having reached very important agreements last September 2023 regarding salary improvements that motivated the call for a strike, the members of the negotiating table have continued to negotiate the terms that the new regulatory framework should contain, exposing throughout multiple meetings their points of view and debating numerous issues of interest. During this process, agreements were reached that allowed stuck issues to be unblocked and progress towards achieving the final agreement.
During the meeting held last Tuesday, October 22, the unions reported that they had put to a vote the text agreed upon by the soccer players with a result of 97% in favor, so the agreements reached have the broad support of the soccer players.
Beatriz Alvarez, president of Liga F, has shown her satisfaction with the agreement reached, highlighting that “the signing of this Agreement represents an act of responsibility and responds to the undoubted commitment of the Clubs in the development of women’s professional football and the improvement of the conditions of the footballers, who have been expressing to me during my visits to the locker rooms their desire for the parties to reach an agreement.”
“The new Agreement represents an obvious step forward and includes substantial improvements to the framework that will regulate relations between Clubs and Footballers, regulating important aspects related to motherhood and conciliation, mental health, leaves, study scholarships and entrepreneurship. This Agreement also reinforces the leadership of women’s professional football as the driving force of women’s sports in Spain and marks the way for other women’s competitions.”
This Professional League wants to value the professionalism, rigor and high-mindedness demonstrated by FUTPRO, Futbolistas ON and CCOO who have not only defended the interests of the soccer players, following their mandate, but have also demonstrated their commitment and desire to reach an agreement, respecting the agreements reached during the negotiation.
On the contrary, Liga F deeply regrets the lack of integrity, rigor and respect towards the negotiation process demonstrated by UGT, who despite having expressed its agreement with the current draft has failed to fulfill its commitment today, as well as the of AFE, whose negligence and lack of interest demonstrated throughout the negotiation demonstrates its position with respect to women’s football, with the usual trend being the non-attendance of its representatives in most meetings, as well as their non-participation in debates and agreements. .
The agreement will be subject to subsequent ratification by the respective governing bodies of League F prior to its public presentation.
