Gimcheon City to hold the 79th Korea Tennis Championships for 10 days from November 1
The Korea Tennis Championships, which boasts the highest tradition and authority among domestic tennis competitions, will be held at the Gimcheon Sports Town Tennis Court for 10 days from the 1st to the 10th of next month.
This tournament, which celebrates its 79th anniversary this year, will award the most KTA ranking points (400 points) in Korea, and approximately 350 top domestic tennis players are scheduled to participate.
This competition, held in Gimcheon City for four consecutive years, begins with a three-day preliminary round and progresses through the final tournament, leading to fierce competition for the championship.
The competition will consist of men’s and women’s singles, doubles, and mixed doubles, and the total prize money is 100 million won. The winners of each category will be listed on the list of past winners of the Korean Tennis Championships and will receive the highest honor in domestic tennis.
In particular, Lee Jae-moon (KDB Korea Development Bank) from Gimcheon, who won the men’s singles competition last year, will also participate in this competition.
Lee Jae-moon recently won the men’s singles in the general tennis division at the 105th National Sports Festival held in Gyeongnam, so he is expected to have a great performance in this tournament as well.
Kim Chung-seop, Mayor of Gimcheon, said, “Befitting its reputation as a sports-specialized city, we will spare no effort in providing administrative support to ensure that the Korean Tennis Championships, which has the highest authority in the country, can be concluded successfully.”
