The team coached by Javier Jorda Ribera itself failed optimally in the 2025 U-17 Asian Cup Qualification. After losing 0-2 to the United Arab Emirates in the first match, Malaysia drew 2-2 against Laos.

In the third best ranking, Malaysia is in ninth position. Arayyan Hakeem and his friends lost to China, Vietnam, the Indonesian National Team, Iran and Oman who collected 4 to 3 points.

After these bad results, manager Christopher Raj resigned. Quoted from Bharian, Christopher said his resignation was the best way to open up opportunities for new faces to assume responsibility in the Malaysian national team.

“I really appreciate all the opportunities given and the experience of serving my country is something I am very proud of and will never forget,” said Christopher.

“A million thanks to all the players, especially the parents of the players who have sacrificed a lot to support me as the 12th player in Laos and also in all the U-17 national team matches during my service,” added Christopher.

Christopher, who is also the Exco of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), is confident that the new manager can carry out his duties well at Malaysia U-17.

“Even though it is acknowledged that the team still needs to improve a lot, I am sure that the new faces to replace me will be able to carry out their responsibilities better,” said Christopher.
