The club assured that the Red Devils are looking to pay the clause for the coach
Sporting de Portugal confirmed that Manchester United is willing to pay the termination clause of 10 million euros to sign Portuguese coach Rúben Amorim.
This was stated by the Portuguese club in a note presented today before the country’s Securities Market Commission (CMVM).
“Manchester has expressed interest in paying Sporting the value of the aforementioned clause,” says the statement, where it is also reported that said value is 10 million euros.
During yesterday’s matchday, Dutch coach Erik Ten Hag was dismissed by the English club and from the beginning there has been speculation about the possibility of Amorim replacing him.
The Portuguese coach was a footballer until 2017 and played for Belenenses, Braga and Benfica. He was also an absolute international with Portugal, where he met Cristiano Ronaldo in 2010 during the World Cup in South Africa.
After coaching Braga, Sporting de Portugal signed him in March 2020. At the head of this team, the coach has won two Portuguese Leagues.
This season Sporting has won the national tournament with 30 goals for and 2 against.
In the Champions League they have seven points with two wins and a draw.
