Last Saturday, October 26, the Anaitasuna Club of Pamplona organized the II <a href="https://www.archysport.com/2023/11/judo-club-ribera-navarra-excels-at-i-anaitasuna-judo-tournament/" title="Judo Club Ribera Navarra Excels at I Anaitasuna Judo Tournament”>Anaitasuna Judo Tournament, an event that brought together judokas from the Children’s and Cadet categories, both male and female. The competition included the participation of athletes from Navarra, the Basque Country, La Rioja, Aragon, Catalonia, Madrid and Andorra.
The day began on Friday afternoon with the accreditation of the teams and the weighing of the judokas. On Saturday morning, the Children’s category competition took place, with the participation of 100 judokas. In the afternoon, it was the turn of the Cadets, with a total of 150 participants.
The Shogun riverside team had an outstanding performance, presenting eight judokas: two in the Children’s category and six in the Cadet category, achieving a total of five medals.
In the Children’s category, Carlota Recio (Judo Sede Cintruénigo) won the bronze medal in the less than 52 kg category. However, Miguel de Cascante failed to advance to the final rounds.
In the Cadet category, Carmen Cornago (Cintruénigo Headquarters) obtained the first bronze of the afternoon. Iosu Bea (Fitero Headquarters) won the gold medal, while Alba Sagra (Central Headquarters) and Nico Orobio (Cascante Headquarters) took the silver medals. Israel De Los Santos had to leave the competition due to an injury, and Claudia Casajús, despite her good performance, did not manage to get on the podium after three closely contested fights.
Next week, the Shogun judo team will return to competition in the Navarro Senior Championship with three other athletes from the club.
