A lot happened last weekend in the Mexican Grand Prix. Sergio Perez’s car was damaged in a duel with Liam Lawson. Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko is not very happy with the way of defending his junior driver Lawson.
VCARB driver Lawson showed in Mexico that he does not just let everyone pass. Last week in Austin he fought a fierce duel with two-time world champion Fernando Alonso, and now he had to fight with Red Bull driver Perez. The two hit each other and that left a large hole in the sidepod of Perez’s car. The stewards did not hand out any punishment, but Perez did drive a lost race.
Lawson has been frequently linked to Perez’s seat. The incident with Perez did not cause much joy for Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko. The Austrian was very critical of the New Zealander in conversation with Motorsport-Magazin: “I think Lawson was more to blame.” Marko thinks it is good that Lawson competes fiercely, but he is not supposed to do this in the battle with the other Red Bull team: “If it had been someone else, it would have been fine, but not with the sister team.”
