Big news from Soudal Quick-Step. Because it became known that the team will welcome Frederik Broché next season. And with that, another leading figure within the Belgian cycling association is leaving.

‘Theft’ at the union
Broché will take on the coaching of a number of riders and he will also strengthen the performance department. However, at Belgian Cycling they are not happy about the departure of their (ex) technical director. “Frederik informed me on Monday morning that he wants to return to his old love: coaching riders for a team.”
“We are very grateful to him for all the work of recent years, but regret the way in which his future team – Soudal Quick-Step – has conducted the negotiations,” says chairman Tom Van Damme.
Back to the roots
At Soudal Quick-Step they managed to confirm the arrival of Broché. “I have known Frederik for quite some time. The discussions have been going on since June, today we have reached an agreement and Frederik has informed the Belgian cycling association of his departure,” defends Jurgen Foré, COO of the team.
“He will take on the coaching of a number of riders with us and will further expand the performance cell together with Koen Pelgrim (the current trainer of Remco Evenepoel, ed.),” Foré explains Broché’s tasks.
As mentioned, another departure from Belgian Cycling. Sven Vanthourenhout will also resign as national coach. But it doesn’t stop there. The national coaches of mountain bike and track cycling, Kenny De Ketele and Filip Meirhaeghe, are also quitting. So there is work to be done.
