Two school teams show off their skills
On April 24th, the national school competition “<a href="https://www.archysport.com/2022/05/judo-youth-training-for-the-olympics-tsv-palmbach-1905-ev/” title=”Judo youth training for the Olympics – TSV Palmbach 1905 eV”>Youth training for the Olympics” in judo took place in Karlsruhe. Two school teams competed at the regional council level, whose athletes are training their judo skills at the 1st Budo Club Schwetzingen.
These include the Ketsch Old School and the Schwetzingen Nordstadt Elementary School. The teams, made up of judokas spread over five weight classes, were made up of nervous newcomers to the mat and experienced veterans. They were expertly coached by Budo Club trainer Markus Thiemann. All participants were committed and showed their sporting qualities on the mat. They also loudly cheered on their club athletes across schools in order to at least give a psychological advantage to the disadvantage that existed due to the weight class distribution – not all classes could be filled.
Placements second and third
At the end of the day of judo sport, which was a sweaty lesson not only for the competitors, they, together with the trainers and accompanying parents, were delighted with the second and third places. The Alte Schule Ketsch took second place behind the Falkensteinschule from Bad Herrenalb. Third place went to the Nordstadt primary school in Schwetzingen. At the end there were trophies and certificates for the participants. (ako)
