<a href="https://www.archysport.com/2024/04/success-on-the-tatami-judo-club-cadets-shine-at-loire-championships/” title=”Success on the Tatami: Judo Club Cadets Shine at Loire Championships”>Maxence Esnault has just obtained his black belt in judo, like his father before him. Encounter.
Why did you choose this discipline? My father was a coach at the club, so I was immersed in judo from a very young age. At one year old, I already had my first kimono, even though I couldn’t walk yet. At three years old, I was on the tatami mats with my brother. I continued because judo teaches strong values that have had an impact on me, such as respect, courage, and discipline. My competitive victories really made me want to progress.
Was your transition to black belt a challenge? Yes, you must validate four units of value to obtain it. The refereeing, the competition, and the technique were completed without difficulty, but the kata was more complicated. We had to find the ideal partner and manage the stress in front of a jury. Finally, I validated this unit last June, a great satisfaction.
What are your main titles? I have been crowned champion of the Loire seven times and I have won several podiums at regional level. I also participated four times in the French championships, where I won a bronze medal at the FSGT championships and achieved several podiums in international tournaments.
Supervisor at the Judo Club
What are your goals today? I have been licensed for several years at the Riorgeois dojo, one of the best clubs in the Loire. I want to gain even more experience there and refine my technique. But I also want to pass on what I have learned. I help my father supervise training at the Régny Judo Club, my home club, and I hope to continue to share the values of this sport with the youngest.
