Inter Milan wins at Empoli and stays in contact with Naples in the Serie A standings

Inter Milan easily beat Empoli (3-0) in front of their home crowd on Wednesday. The Nerazurri thus remain close to Napoli in the Serie A standings.

Inter Milan came back to four points behind leader Naples by outclassing Empoli (3-0) in front of their home crowd on Wednesday during the 10th day of the Italian Championship. The reigning champion won against a team reduced to ten since the 30th minute after the exclusion of Saba Goglichidze for a dangerous tackle on Marcus Thuram, thanks to a double from Davide Frattesi (50th and 67th) and the fourth goal this season from Lautaro Martinez (79th).

Inter, who remained in a spectacular draw (4-4) against Juventus Turin on Sunday, totaled 21 points after this fifth consecutive match without defeat. Simone Inzaghi’s team responded to Napoli who had won the day before against AC Milan (2-0) at San Siro and who they will face on November 10 at home.

The third candidate for the title, Juve, 3rd, eight points behind the leader and four lengths behind Inter, faces promoted Parma on Wednesday evening (8:45 p.m.). Venice, for their part, dropped last place to Genoa thanks to their second victory of the season, 3-2 at home against Udinese. The promoted team was trailing 2-0, but took advantage of the exclusion of Isaak Touré to equalize, then snatch victory in the 86th minute on a penalty from Finland’s Joel Pohjanpalo, his second of the evening.
