Simon Nemec recently let himself be heard that he had never experienced a situation in his life where he would be a healthy substitute in two games in a row. Now we have moved forward and the Slovakian defender attended the fourth New Jersey Devils game in a row.
“I try to take the situation like a professional. It’s not easy for me. It is a hard school for me, something new for me. I have never experienced a similar situation in my life,” the German recently told olympic.sk.
The 20-year-old native of Liptovský Mikuláš was a healthy substitute only once last season, now his streak is already four games. Considering his age and position in the draft, the question arises whether the situation when he does not play is beneficial for him.
We asked you about it in a poll on Tuesday. At the time of writing this article, 649 votes were registered in it. Of them, only 8.6% belonged to the choice that the Devils should keep the German in the first team. The rest of the opinions echoed those of Devils fans overseas who had previously expressed themselves on social media.
As many as 48.7% of voters would welcome if the German was sent to Utica from the AHL, where he would have the opportunity to play top minutes regularly. However, there was also the possibility of a trade to another team, in which the number two draft pick could find himself in a better situation. 42.7% of votes belonged to this option.
New Jersey’s next game is on Friday against Calgary. After Wednesday’s 6-0 win over Vancouver, it doesn’t seem likely that head coach Sheldon Keefe will make any changes to the lineup. Especially when he wants Luke Hughes and Brett Pesce to get up to speed after injuries.
