In just over a month, Bucaramanga will become the sports epicenter of South America, hosting the XXVIII South American School Games 2024, which will take place from December 3 to 10. This event will bring together 2,640 athletes between 12 and 14 years old, from 12 countries: Colombia, Argentina, Bolivia, Bonaire, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela.
Young participants will compete in a variety of sports, including chess, athletics, basketball, handball, indoor soccer, judo, swimming, table tennis and volleyball. There will also be Paralympic disciplines, such as athletics and swimming. Likewise, the competitions will be organized in individual and collective modalities, ensuring that at least four countries are represented in each discipline, which guarantees the South American character of the event.
With an investment of 14,000 million pesos by the Ministry of Sports, the National Government demonstrates its commitment to the development of sports. Bucaramanga, as the host city, has prepared to offer the best conditions to each of the delegations.
With this important event, cooperation between countries will be promoted, promoting sports competitions and guaranteeing the exchange of resources and knowledge in the sports field. Likewise, it seeks to implement national policies that integrate sports and physical education as a fundamental part of the economic and social development of the region.
Finally, it is important to remember that the athletics competitions will be held at the Luis Enrique Figueroa athletics stadium, in La Flora, where several national competitions have also been held this year, as well as the South American U-23 Championship.
