This Thursday, at UEFA headquarters, the draw for the Elite Round of the futsal Champions League took place, with Sporting and SC Braga in action… and then against each other!
It was one of the possibilities on the table and it ended up coming true, which means that, in the best case scenario, only a Portuguese team will be in the final four.
Rivals in Group C of this Elite Round, SC Braga and Sporting will face each other at Pavilhão João Rocha and will also be joined by Anderlecht (Belgium) and SK Plzen (Czech).
In the other groups, special attention should be paid to the theoretically complicated mission of the Spanish representatives: Jimbee will play against the champions of Italy and Latvia and Palma against the nouveau riche FC Semey.
This, in fact, will be the third meeting between Portuguese teams in the Champions League, after two classics between Sporting and Benfica. Interestingly, the first one was held under the same conditions: Elite Round and at Pavilhão João Rocha.
The Elite Round will be played from November 26th to December 1st and only the winner of each group will advance to the final four from the beginning of May.
The Elite Round groups
