“His goal is to prepare for the Australian Open”
Ivan Ljubicic had a great career, reaching world number 3 and later coaching Roger Federer. In a recent interview, the Croatian explained why Novak Djokovic decided to skip the 2024 Paris Masters. In addition, he commented that he could do the same for the ATP Finals.

Djokovic is currently sixth in the ATP Race, with a solid chance of qualifying for the Finals, although he still has to wait for the results of his competitors.

Will Djokovic return to the ATP Finals?

The Serbian could have secured a place in the final by advancing a couple of rounds in Paris, but finally confirmed his absence: “Unfortunately, I will not be playing in the Paris Masters this year. I have very good memories of having won seven titles and I hope to return to be with you next year. I’m sorry for everyone who was hoping to see me there.

His withdrawal suggests that he may not return to the court this season, especially considering that Djokovic himself has mentioned that his attention remains focused on the Grand Slams and the tournaments in which he represents Serbia.

In a recent interview, Ivan Ljubicic, a friend of Novak Djokovic and former coach of Federer, commented that Djokovic no longer worries about qualification and that he is channeling all his physical and mental energy to compete to the maximum in the upcoming Grand Slams.

“I don’t know how much longer Novak will play, and I think he doesn’t know either. In my opinion, he is not interested in small tournaments or a place on the ATP list.”

“I don’t think he is physically or mentally prepared for it. However, in Shanghai he showed everyone that, when he wants, he can still be among the best,” added the Croatian. “I don’t think he is thinking about the Turin Masters. His goal is to prepare as best as possible for 2025 and the Australian Open.”
