NFL: Garrett Wilson impresses and the Jets finally win

Garrett Wilson made a breathtaking catch that had to be confirmed by the video replay and Davante Adams scored his first touchdown with the New York Jets, who beat the Houston Texans 21-13 on Thursday night.

With just over 13 minutes left in the fourth quarter, Wilson made a one-handed catch in the back of the end zone. His left foot, then the shin of his left leg, touched the ground in play, but not his right foot.

Officials initially ruled it an incomplete pass, but changed their minds after reviewing the replays.

The 26-yard touchdown gave the Jets a 14-10 lead.

Ka’imi Fairbairn missed a 27-yard field goal on the next drive and Adams stunned Houston with a 37-yard touchdown in his third game with the Jets (3-6), who ended a five-game losing streak.

Wilson’s spectacular touchdown was his second major of the game. He also caught a 21-yard touchdown pass from Aaron Rodgers in the third quarter.

Rodgers finished the game with 211 passing yards and three touchdowns. Adams and Wilson had 91 and 90 receiving yards respectively and Breece Hall added 74 yards on the ground.

Jets rookie wide receiver Malachi Corley got attention for all the wrong reasons on the very first play of the second quarter. Corley raced toward the end zone following an overturned play, presumably on his way to scoring a 21-yard touchdown. However, he dropped the ball just before crossing the white line and the score remained tied 0-0.

Joe Mixon scored the Texans’ only touchdown with a three-yard run that gave them the first points of the game with 3:21 on the clock in the second quarter.

Mixon rushed for 106 yards on 24 carries and Tank Dell had 126 yards on six receptions, including a 50-yard play.

CJ Stroud was held to less than 200 passing yards for the first time since the third game of the season. He completed only 11 of his 30 attempts for 191 yards.

The Texans (6-3), who lost the services of star receiver Stefon Diggs for the season last Sunday, lost two of their last three games after starting the season with five wins in six games.
