“Needed a dirty win”

With his third goal for his new club, AC Florenz, Robin Gosens became the match winner at Genoa CFC. The 30-year-old rail player, who joined Fiorentina on loan from Union Berlin on deadline day, scored in the 72nd minute to make it 1-0, which also meant the final score. With their fourth win in a row, the club confirmed fourth place in Serie A.
Goalkeeper David de Gea also showed a top performance, making another strong save shortly before the final whistle to secure the win and was subsequently voted Man of the Match. The ex-Man United keeper came to Florence in the summer after a year without a club and has since played seven league games in which he kept three clean sheets.
When asked about the success in Genoa, where new signing Mario Balotelli was not yet part of the squad, coach Raffaele Palladino compared Gianluca Di Marzio to the previous 5-1 win against AS Roma on Sunday. “This is the victory that gives us more satisfaction. We needed a dirty win, a real win,” Palladino said. “It’s a victory that completes us, we’ve been missing a performance like that.”
