Carlos Alcaraz ended his short career in the Paris Masters 1,000 in the round of 16. The Murcian fell before Ugo Humbert 6-1, 3-6, and 7-5 in a game in which he did not feel completely comfortable.
After the defeat, Alcaraz was somewhat dissatisfied with the state of the court in Paris: “I don’t want to say something that sounds like an excuse. Ugo deserves the victory, but, for example, the Davis indoor court was slower than this one. “I don’t know why they have changed this so much from one tournament to another and in the same tournament compared to other years. This surprised me. I arrived here without much time and I could have come earlier to get used to it. Right now, what I can say is that I don’t understand why they did this,” he acknowledged. He number two in the world acknowledged that he did not know how to adapt to the track conditions: “For me, It is difficult to play in these conditions. I have tried to change everything I could to get used to this track, at this speed. I thought these conditions were going to suit me, but the truth is that no. Ugo always plays very flat and doesn’t let you get into the rhythm, so I haven’t been able to play good tennis. “I practice at home, but the ball speed is not the same.”
