After the break tension arises
On the other hand, there was hardly anything offensive from the guests. The VfB players were particularly noticeable because of their individual mistakes. In particular, the young Anrie Chase, who represented the suspended defense chief Jeff Chabot, made a few passing errors in the build-up to the game. Shortly after the break, the 20-year-old created another great chance for Leverkusen, but Boniface (54th) only hit the post.
Nevertheless, the botched shot on goal marked the beginning of a much more exciting final phase. First Deniz Undav (62′) had the first good chance for Stuttgart, then Leverkusen’s Frimpong (66′) headed just wide. A few minutes later, Boniface (73′) suddenly appeared free in front of the VfB goal, but the strong Nübel parried again. Until the end, neither team was able to score the decisive winning goal.
For Leverkusen, this means that they could slip from third place over the course of the weekend, while the Swabians are threatened with slipping from 8th place into the middle of the table.
