After the cup exit during the week against German champions Bayer Leverkusen, SV Elversberg is back to everyday league life. The Saarlanders will be visiting the bottom of the table, SSV Jahn Regensburg.

On Tuesday there was no repeat of the sensation from 2022 in the DFB Cup: SV Elversberg lost clearly 3-0 against Bayer Leverkusen. For SVE coach Horst Steffen, it was still “a great experience to see what you can do with the ball and how quickly you can play. The boys were amazed.”

Elversberg is a guest at the newly promoted team
It is now important for the SVE to flip the switch and focus on the league again. The opponent on Saturday will be the bottom team SSV Jahn Regensburg, who only parted ways with their coach Joe Enochs last week.
The promoted team has only been able to score four points in the league so far and has both the worst offense and defense in the league with four goals and 30 goals conceded. During the week, however, the Regensburg team had reason to be happy again: in the DFB Cup, the team, which is coached on an interim basis by Andreas Patz, beat Greuther Fürth 1-0.
Horst Steffen doesn’t want to look too closely at the table before the game on Saturday: “My assessment is very current and less dependent on what happened before in the season. I’m interested in how Regensburg is on this match day and how we can beat them.”
Steffen has been in office for six years
The Elversbergers were left behind in the cup during the week, but so far in the current season things are going really smoothly for Horst Steffen’s team in the league. The SVE has been unbeaten in four games, and on the last match day they beat HSV 4-2 at home.
With only three points behind a promotion place, the Kaiserlinde team is in seventh place in the table. Horst Steffen also celebrated six years as a coach at SVE during the week.
His team has had a strenuous week in England, but the head coach knows what is important: “The players have to have freshness in their heads and bodies.” On Saturday, key players Semih Sahin and captain Robin Fellhauer will be out due to injuries.
