(Los Angeles) The Dodgers celebrated their eighth World Series title with a parade in downtown Los Angeles on Friday.

Seven double-decker buses filled with players, their families and instructors passed through streets crowded on both sides by fans dressed in blue.
Los Angeles police estimated the crowd at 150,000.
Jubilant, manager Dave Roberts lifted the commissioner’s trophy.

“It’s amazing,” said Freddie Freeman, named World Series Most Valuable Player. Los Angeles really answered the call today. »
Freeman also indicated that he suffered from an intercostal sprain. The painful injury, which affects the ribs, usually sidelines a player for months.
Roberts introduced Freeman to the crowd by saying he “played with one leg and one rib.” The first baseman sprained his right ankle in the final days of the regular season.

Several players smoked cigars and drank beer on a sunny day.
“It’s the best thing I’ve ever been a part of,” pitcher Clayton Kershaw said. I’ve never seen so many people in my life. They’re all Dodgers fans. »
A shirtless Kiké Hernández leaned at the front of his bus, a beer in hand. Shohei Ohtani held his dog Decoy in his arms not far from his wife, Mamiko.
“I’m totally overwhelmed by the number of fans,” Ohtani said. It’s been an incredible year. I’m so happy I was able to contribute. Everyone has been so welcoming. »
Walker Buehler, who pitched in the ninth inning in Wednesday’s deciding game, wore Orel Hershiser’s jersey during the 1988 World Series.

The parade took place on the day the 64 would have taken placee anniversary of Fernando Valenzuela.
