San Juan, Nov 1 (EFE).- The mayor of San Juan, Miguel Romero, announced this Friday that the first two games of the ‘<a href="https://www.archysport.com/2023/08/there-is-already-a-preliminary-agreement-between-tigres-del-licey-and-aguilas-cibaenas-to-play-in-new-york/" title="There is already a preliminary agreement between Tigres del Licey and Águilas Cibaeñas to play in New York”>Titanes del Caribe‘ series will be held in Puerto Rico, which will present the Tigres del Licey teams to the teams. and the Águilas Cibaeñas of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM).
“It is a true honor that our capital city serves as the setting for this match between the Águilas Cibaeñas and Tigres del Licey. Historically, both teams have provoked the greatest passion and emotions on the part of the Dominican baseball fans, both in Quisqueya and in his followers in Puerto Rico,” Romero said in a statement.
The municipal leader who was accompanied at the event by César Julio Cedeño, consul general of the Dominican Republic in Puerto Rico and Sara Loarte, CEO of Loarte Consultina, specified that the matches will be played at the Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan on the 6th and 7th of December.
“I am sure that this event will be very well received by the number of Dominican brothers who reside in San Juan and by lovers of good baseball in general. It will be a resounding success for the enjoyment of the entire family,” added the mayor.
Likewise, promoters have created a series of concerts after each game for fans to prolong the celebration of the sporting event.
Los Tigres is the oldest team in the LIDOM and has won 24 League titles and 11 Caribbean Series titles.
While the Águilas Cibaeñas, founded in 1933, is the team that has won six Caribbean Series and 22 national titles.
The ‘Titans of the Caribbean’ series will kick off on November 10 at Citi Field in Queens, home of the Mets.
