Formula 1 Qualifying Highlights: Piastri Takes Pole Position as Verstappen Aims for Victory from Fourth

Oscar Piastri was the leader in the Brazilian GP sprint qualifying session, which took place after the first practice session.

Lando Norris came second, while third place went to Charles Leclerc.

The Brazilian GP sprint race will take place on Saturday at 17:00 Türkiye time.

SQ1 – Part One: Norris top, Verstappen sixth

The sprint qualifying rounds, which took place over the weekend in Sao Paulo, started in overcast conditions but without precipitation.

When the green light turned on, the 12-minute first episode started and the first ones on the track were the Ferrari pilots.

After the first laps, the name that came to the top was Oscar Piastri, while Mercedes driver George Russell reported on the team radio that he had difficulty braking.

The fastest lap in the first episode was Lando Norris with 1:09.477, followed by his teammate Oscar Piastri and Williams driver Alex Albon, 0.788 behind.

The eliminated names were Fernando Alonso, Esteban Ocon, Yuki Tsunoda, Lance Stroll and Guanyu Zhou, respectively.

SQ2 – Episode Two: Norris leads, Hamilton and Perez eliminated

After the pilots started the 10-minute second episode, the person who had the fastest lap was Lando Norris with 1:09.063.

While his teammate Oscar Piastri was in second place, Charles Leclerc was in third place with 0.185.

The names that were eliminated in SQ2 and did not qualify for the final round were Lewis Hamilton, Nico Hulkenberg, Sergio Perez, Franco Colapinto and Valtteri Bottas, respectively.

SQ3 – Episode Three:

In the third and final part of the sprint qualifying session, the pilots took to the track to determine the lineup of the top 10 in Saturday’s sprint.

In the last episode, it was the McLaren pilots who opened the first laps.

The person who took the top spot with the fastest lap in the 8-minute session was Oscar Piastri with 1:08.899.

Piastri was followed by his teammate Lando Norris, 0.029 behind, while Charles Leclerc took third place.

Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz finished fourth and fifth respectively.
