SANTO DOMINGO.- Brazilians Rodrigo Moreira and Pedro Veloni were crowned doubles champions of the J30 Carpintero Santo Domingo Cup, an international U18 tournament, which is played with more than 150 players from 20 countries, at the Parque del Este National Tennis Center totally free to the public.
Moreira and Veloni, from Brazil, defeated Gianluca Galasso, from the United States, and Juan Muñoz, from Mexico, the fifth couple of the event, in the final, by 6-3 and 6-2.
While, in women’s doubles, Ana Jativa, from Ecuador and Bethania Bonaguro, from Venezuela, defeated the couple two of the event in the final, the Turkish Lila Bodur and Aurora Lugo, from Puerto Rico, by 7-5 5-7 and [10-5].
Dominican Álvaro Pérez, second seed, advanced to the final after beating Nikolas Kumria, from the United States, 6-3 3-0 and retired.
The other Creole, Jossting Cruz, first seed, fell to Pedro Vargas, 7-6 and 6-3.
The singles finals are played this Saturday, starting at 9 in the morning.

The tournament gives 30 points to the champions of both branches.
Wilson Joya, from Colombia, is the tournament referee, assisted by the Dominican Francisco de los Santos. Sergio Tobal, vice president of Fedotenis, is the general director.
The events organized by Fedotenis are thanks to the Ministry of Tourism, Banco De Reservas, IDAC, Creso, Ekatex, El Nuevo Diario, Wilson, Plásticas Viñals, Gravotech, Vilas Tennis Academy, D’oficinas and Restaurant Grand Pescador.
