Erik ten Hag takes a deep look after being fired from Manchester United

Erik ten Hag spoke out for the first time after his expulsion from Manchester United and showed deep gratitude.

“Of course it was my dream to bring more trophies into the display case. Unfortunately, this dream has come to an end,” wrote the Dutchman in a letter that his management (SEG Football) published on X.

The English record champions had fired ten Hag on Monday and on Friday hired the Portuguese Ruben Amorim as the new team manager. Ten Hag became coach at Man United for the 2022/23 season, and during his tenure the club secured the League Cup (2023) and the FA Cup (2024) once each. “We won two trophies – achievements that I will cherish for the rest of my life,” said ten Hag.

Particularly important to him were saying goodbye to the fans. “Thank you for always being there for the club,” wrote the 54-year-old. The support was “unwavering” and the atmosphere at Old Trafford was “electric”. The warmth in the club helped him “feel at home. Thank you for this chapter in my life.”
